Just a quick 15minutes play in the garden shooting some rather docile bumble bees on the lavender as the evening draws in.
The not so docile honey bee
OK, not even a bee, by eye I thought this was a bunch of insect eggs, but closer inspection with the macro lens revealed it to be actually some form of slime mould on the tree stump.
Setup for all the shots:
Canon EOS 6D, Canon EF 100mm F2.8 Macro USM, Kenko 1.5x teleconver & Jessops 21mm extension tube + 580EX on 3m OC-E3. This setup achieves 2:1 magnification at minimum focus distance (slime mould) but the bees were backed off closer to 1:1. All at F9, except the slime mould at F14.
